More about the performer and program:

Lauded as “stylish and innovative” (New York Classical Review), Relic is a period instrument chamber orchestra that connects with audiences through intimate, imaginative and dramatic representations of early music, with the goal of reaching communities in all 50 states. Relic’s innovative programming, which uses narrative “chapters” to unite a variety of repertoire into a breathtaking concert experience, has captured the hearts of new and seasoned concertgoers alike.

At this Third Place presented show: experience a powerful retelling of the classic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice, brought to life through music, poetry, and drama. This one-of-a-kind performance will draw listeners deep into the Underworld as Orpheus faces every peril to reclaim his love, Eurydice. Selections from Monteverdi, Telemann, Charpentier, and others.

Third Place [MusicFest] and a2Tech360 presents: slapslap

Third Place [MusicFest], an annual Ann Arbor music festival, is proud to partner with a2Tech360 and present performance art rock electro-acoustic quartet, slapslap. More about slapslap: a combination you don’t see every day: two electric bassoonists and dual percussionists, unless you’re witnessing Ann Arbor quartet slapslap, of course. Bassoonists Maddy Wildman and Ezra Gans and percussionists Cameron Wilson and Tanner Tanyeri combine their musical powers to produce a one-of-a-kind sound that exists in the space between creative improv, up-tempo dance music, post-funk, and performance art. Embracing technical musicianship as much as they do light-hearted absurdity, slapslap is equal parts enthralling, confounding, and fun. The band has performed in places as diverse as coffee shops, basement shows, bars, and University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium, delighting crowds with their upbeat compositions and eccentric style.
